Talitha Koum!

Something really big happened in me during that facedown laid flat prayer time on Wednesday.  He lifted me and He gave me a voice, but He also filled me to the top with courage, boldness and passion.  I can’t even begin to describe it.On Tuesday night I had worked on a box.  Just a small little box – and the concept was to flip through magazines to cut out images/words and on the outside of the box would be what you would show others and how others see you (public information).  The inside of the box would be how you see yourself and what you don’t want others to see or know about you (private information).  This started in a group session, but I finished it at home.  Magazine pages were flipping, the sounds of scissors cutting, pages ripping…some were just seemingly harmless words with huge significance to me.  If you have never made a box, you should try it.
On Friday as we were heading to the Beth Moore conference – my entire day became a little rattled with work and last minute things.  It continued to be somewhat rattled even as we arrived – and during the worship at the beginning I was just wanting to be calm and still.  We came fully expecting to hear a message about being marked.  We have been studying our inheritance together in Sunday School – marveling that we are chosen.  I thought this conference was just going to confirm it even more for me.
Until the video at the beginning started playing, and then “rattled” quickly became “undone”.
Instead of seeing the concept of being marked – this is displayed…

And this is one very cropped picture of part of the inside of my box…
Undone would be an understatement.  I think my mouth opened briefly as if stuck on “Oh My”.
This message was so awesome in so many ways – she talked about good secrets, bad secrets, secrets manifest!, the secret place.
At church the next day, the sermon mentioned the word secrets again.  The message was on Mark 4:21-43 where Jesus healed with woman who had been bleeding for 12 years.   She touched His cloak and she believed and was healed.  She was afraid but she told Him the whole truth and he replied, “Daughter, your faith has healed you.  Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”   In that same passage there is the healing of the little girl who was dead, and Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid just believe.”  ..He went in where the child was and He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha Koum!” which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”  Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was 12 years old).  At this they were completely astonished.
Talitha Koum!  After church, my daughter and I made this using the confetti from the conference.

What does the word “secret” do to you?  What words or pictures would you cut from a magazine and put inside of box?  What would the outside of your box look like?  How long have you suffered or struggled?  12 years?  Longer?  It’s not too late.  Don’t be afraid.  Just believe.  Talitha Koum!
