He is the Potter, We are the Clay: Giving God the Difficult and Messy Parts of our Story

Have you given God the difficult and messy parts of your story? You know, the delicate parts of your story that are off-limits and boxed away? I know what it is like to keep secrets and hide them away – even from God. Thankfully, as the Master Potter, He can take our life’s messy, broken pieces and shape them into something beautiful.
I took a Pottery Class earlier this year with my Mom. We created bowls from clay. At the end of the class, I noticed my bowl looked a little rough. I wasn’t sure how it could become a beautiful piece of pottery.

It looked a little messy and fragile. It reminded me of my life before I gave my brokenness to Jesus. I kept the secrets of the sexual abuse I experienced throughout my childhood from everyone, even God. It was an off-limits topic with Him. I served and praised Him, but I kept that part locked away. But, oh, how my life radically changed when I opened that closed box and let His light pour in!

Like the Master Potter, He took my story’s messy, delicate parts and turned it into something beautiful. I recently shared this message at a Women’s Conference at Montwood Baptist Church in Roxboro, NC. I pray this story of healing encourages you.
Please share this message with someone you know who may need hope for the hard parts of their story. God is faithful and will bring healing, strength, and purpose to our past if we let Him in!
Will you let The Potter into your story today?
