What does it look like to heal from sexual abuse?
How is it even possible?

Secrets. We all have them. Michelle had plenty of secrets and intended to take them all to her grave. Married with three children, she owned a business and actively participated in church. Everything appeared wonderful on the outside, but on the inside, secrets from her childhood bubbled up and wreaked havoc in her life. She visited a counselor determined to heal quickly without telling anyone else her secrets. But healing took time, and she had to continue to show up and sit in her counselor’s office. Sit with the awful memories. Sit with the Lord. Sit with others. None of those chairs were comfortable or easy, but they were necessary for healing. She never wanted anyone to know about the sexual abuse she endured throughout her childhood. But God had other plans. This is the story of how He saw her, healed her, and set her free.

Journey Pink
will help survivors (and those who love them):

  • Have hope to know that healing is possible.
  • See how the wounds from abuse distort our perceptions of God.
  • Have the courage to take the necessary steps to heal.
  • Be inspired to find God in their own journey.
  • Embrace the love of Jesus and see Him as their rescuer and protector.
  • Recognize the ways the trauma impacts their daily life.
  • Know what to expect with counseling and therapy.
  • Be empowered to pursue and embrace freedom.

The trauma from sexual abuse distorts the lens of how a survivor perceives God.
We have to talk about sexual abuse.

Survivors need to know that Jesus loves them.
They need help finding their voice, establishing boundaries, and feeling empowered to say no.
They need the love and support of caring and safe people to hold space for their stories.

Will you join me in helping survivors find courage, hope, and freedom in Jesus?

Rave Reviews

Michelle’s courage to speak what was formerly unspeakable and her faith to follow Jesus despite hard questions make an inspiring, powerful story. Journey Pink is rich with truths from the Bible that address beliefs and feelings so common in childhood trauma survivors. Though she shares her pain with candor, the heart of this story is about redemption and the power of Christ to heal what seems impossible. I highly recommend Journey Pink for survivors and those who love them!

In her masterful first book, Journey Pink, author Michelle Viscuse artfully brings the reader face-to-face with her childhood experiences with the unthinkable. With a unique combination of vulnerability, faith, and grace, Michelle recounts deeply hidden memories while courageously confronting her abuser as an adult. Steadfastly leaning on her faith in the healing power of Jesus, participating in ongoing counseling, and ultimately displaying an unthinkable degree of forgiveness, Michelle’s memoir is a source of hope for anyone exposed to the horrors of childhood sexual abuse.

Through “Journey Pink – The Story of a Princess in Need of a King”, Michelle Viscuse gifts the reader with an honesty that is pure and not shocking, only tenderly surprising. As a woman whose life professionally was to serve children and women in danger, this memoir will only strengthen the importance of those in fields of prevention and protection. Now retired and an artist and writer motivated to create redemptive works, I was moved to tears throughout Michelle’s story. Her story of childhood sexual abuse and the bravery to examine the layers of its mark on her life is filled with instances for readers who have been harmed at the brutal hands of others to be shown empathy. This book is an invitation to healing, an invaluable invitation to a deeper relationship with our Savior, Jesus. I pray any woman who has experienced abuse as a child or adult will receive this truthful book.

Journey Pink is a powerful, courageous story of healing from childhood sexual abuse. For others who are suffering and hiding, living in shame and silence, Michelle’s story shows that healing is possible.  It provides helpful insights into the damage that can be caused by sexual abuse as well as the challenges of healing, but it always points to the reality of restoration and freedom in Christ. I’m sure it will be a great encouragement to anyone on a journey of healing from childhood trauma and those walking alongside them.

It’s not too late to donate to this amazing ministry - Cry Freedom Missions Roxboro. They help reach, rescue and restore survivors of human trafficking.
Mom and I visited today and walked in the rain with Marty. It was incredible.
He started walking last night at midnight. He has 50 miles to go. Any amount that you donate will go to the mission - they have a jail ministry, a safe house for survivors and more. You should hear some of the stories.
He has! He’s witnessed it and listened to hard stuff and that’s why he’s so passionate to help.
He is being the hands and feet of Jesus to those who are hurting. This walk sends a clear message to survivors: You are seen and loved! There is hope!
Please donate, pray, visit, and join him for a lap at Person Senior High in Roxboro, NC. You will be inspired and blessed.
Make checks payable to Cry Freedom Missions. If you are local, I’ll pick it up and deliver it for you. It’s tax deductible but more than that it’s life changing. Be a part of making a huge difference in the life of survivors!
